For the past 18 years, I have concentrated on business and employment disputes, which I have handled at all stages from inception through appeal to the Texas Supreme Court. These include contract issues, partner and shareholder disputes, non-compete covenants and trade secrets, real estate issues, employment litigation and defense of workplace injury claims.
I have jury and non-jury trial experience in both the federal and state court systems, and I have handled a number of arbitrations and mediations and attended the National Institute for Trial Advocacys intensive trial skills program.
I bring strong research and writing skills to my practice. While attending South Texas College of Law, I served as managing editor of the South Texas Law Review, where I was recognized for excellent writing, and I later became editor in chief of the Houston Bar Associations nationally respected magazine, The Houston Lawyer. I am a frequent contributor to the Houston Business Journal and also have published numerous articles other local, state and national publications.
I feel strongly about giving back to our community. I am active in the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo, which I joined as a life member in 1996, and I am a member of its board of directors and serve on the International Committee and the Wine Competition and Auction Committee and the Magazine Committee. I also have volunteered substantial time to the Houston Bar Association and am a recipient of the HBA Presidents Award, given to a select few of the HBAs committee chairmen each year based on outstanding service. I also am active with Citizens for Animal Protection, a Houston-based animal shelter that provides a wonderful service for wayward dogs, cats and other animals in the Houston area.
